Alex named in Code Hospitality ones to watch list

Hjem is rounding off 2019 in style after head chef Alex Nietosvuori was included in an annual list of rising stars from across the UK’s restaurant industry.

CODE, which is one of the leading authorities on UK hospitality, published its 30 Under 30 round up at the beginning of December, shining a light on those people making waves in the industry for all the right reasons.

Twenty-seven-year-old Alex, who opened Restaurant Hjem in the village of Wall with Northumberland-born partner, Ally Thompson earlier in 2019, is delighted to be among them.

He said: “It’s a real pleasure and honour to be listed alongside such great talent in the industry and I’m so pleased that what we have created at Hjem is getting national attention.

“I’m also very proud to be helping to fly the flag for Northumberland and the wider North East – showcasing the region as a place to come for wonderful food adventures. We love welcoming people to our Hjem and are looking forward to what the future holds.”

Alex’s inclusion on CODE’s list, which serves as a reference guide for exciting talent working in the hospitality industry, is the latest in an extraordinary list of accolades Hjem has racked up in its first seven months, including an entry in The Good Food Guide 2020, inclusion in the Michelin Guide 2020 and a simply wonderful review from Marina O'Loughlin in The Sunday Times.
